Thrush can affect infants, kids, teenagers, adults, and senior citizens alike. With thrush, you suffer a rapid spread of fungus and many other problems. Thrush can be found in multiple areas of the body. It can be limited to the mouth in some cases. And in other cases, it can be found in the throat and other areas. It can be diagnosed by simply looking at the lesions found in those areas to confirm diagnosis. It can be connected to underlying medical conditions depending on the case, or it could be the disease in and of itself.
But how do you address thrush? The first major thing to do would of course be to prevent it from happening in the first place. Thrush occurs in the mouth and sometimes the throat. So the first thing to do would be to rinse your mouth regularly. If you brush your teeth rather regularly and make sure to for example rinse your mouth after using a corticosteroid inhaler, this will help you to control the bacteria in your mouth. Likewise, eating more yogurt, which is rich in good bacteria, can help to balance out the natural flora of your stomach, throat, and mouth.
From there, you want to treat problems with vaginal yeast infections. The infection itself is actually the same bacteria. And if you do this, it will not have a chance to travel up. And finally, watch the foods that you are eating. You should limit foods that are rich in sugars just as you would with a vaginal yeast infection. And you would do better to avoid yeast containing foods as well.
But one should always keep in mind that the proper treatment may actually depend on your age. For example, if you are a nursing mother with an infant, you should both be treated for thrush at the same time! It could easily be passed on or transmitted between mother and child. Make sure to disinfect bottles and breast pumps with vinegar and water. On the other hand, healthy adults and children would do best with things like yogurt and even taking lactobacillus acidophilus capsules. And finally, there are antifungal medications your doctor can prescribe if you happen to be an adult with a weakened immune system.
There are plenty of good natural treatments for thrush. For example, it could be as simple as using a warm saltwater rinse. You need only dissolve ½ teaspoons of salt in 1 cup of warm water. You swish around the rinse in your mouth and then spit it out. But you should not swallow. There are of course varying treatments. But thrush treatments are often more simple than most would think.
